Lonely Beaches

Today should be one of the busiest days of the year at Sanna yet a short walk from its car park ensures that one is very unlikely to see another human being all day. This is the abandoned township of Plocaig, with Meall Sanna behind it, which we passed on our way to....

....the lonely beaches just to the west of the Cat's Face.

The only footprints in the sand were those of sheep and an otter, which we later saw swimming close to the shore.

Even though it is just past neaps, these beaches are washed clean each day by the rising tide. Very little rubbish accumulates here, so they are always pristine, and even....

....the occasional bit of human flotsam does not seem totally out of place.
