Geese Disturbed

The small groups of greylag geese wintering here are so well camouflaged against the rocks that one almost falls over them before becoming aware of their presence.

The five in this picture were feeding on the grass just round the point from Mingary Pier yesterday and rose the minute they saw me....

....only to land in the sea about fifty metres out, presumably to wait until I had gone and they could resume their meal.
