A Morning

The view eastwards from our house at 6.30 this morning showed that we had a good chance of the current run of fine weather continuing.  The Northern Lighthouse Board's Pharos had anchored last night just off Maclean's Nose, close to the new fish farm.

When we stepped out of the front door a couple of hours later, we had the pleasure of welcoming a siskin pair, the male still in full mating finery.  We've not seen any siskins for some days, so it was good to have them back.

First stop was Mingary Castle on the weekly visit for the Mingary Castle blog, one of the week's pleasures.  The progress here has been stunning, with most of the scaffolding down and the rest going in the next week or so.  In the right foreground is the steelwork for the viewing platform, accessed via steps down from the water gate.  This massive project is due for completion in August.

Then to Portuairk, the centre of the known universe, where this picture was taken at the top of the hill, with Muck and Rum in the hazy distance across a calm sea.

Next stop home for lunch, to pick up these pictures from Kilchoan Early Bird, of an oystercatcher 'nest' and its eggs and....

....seals basking in yesterday's brilliant sunshine.

Many thanks to Kilchoan Early Bird for the pictures.
