The campaign to retain a good, professional, local nursing service on West Ardnamurchan moves to Edinburgh next Wednesday, 22nd February, when four representatives from West Ardnamurchan Community Council go to meet the Cabinet Secretary for Health & Wellbeing, Nicola Sturgeon. They are being accompanied by a bus-load of demonstrators from the peninsula, but we're appealing for others to come along and support us.

If anyone who lives in, or is visiting Edinburgh would like to join the demonstration, it will begin at 3.00pm outside the Scottish Parliament buildings.

  1. I'm not a resident of Ardnamurchan but regularly visit. I wish I could be there in Edinburgh with you (visitors have accidents and illnesses too) but won't be able to. Best of luck to you.

    1. Why attack the Community Council? The majority of the community supports what they are doing in the Nurses campaign. But if community members have different opinions, there's nothing to stop them coming to open meetings - there have been several - and putting their point of view. Or they can write to or phone the NHS/SAS. It's called democracy.

Were you there at the open meeting last Tuesday? It was chaired by an outsider - a HIGHLAND councillor, not a community councillor. If you were there, you would have seen around 80 people - that's a majority of the adults in West Ardnamurchan who were free to attend; the meeting was called at short notice. Most of the people who questioned the NHS/SAS or otherwise spoke from the floor were ordinary members of the community, NOT Community Councillors. All had important things to say, and all were listened to with respect and politeness.
